Ken Stewart has become the first surgeon in Scotland to be Royal College of Surgeons certified in cosmetic surgery.
In early 2017 the Royal College of Surgeons launched their new certification scheme in cosmetic surgery. The new certification process was started in response to the Keogh report on cosmetic surgery and widely held concerns regarding doctors and dentists undertaking procedures for which they had inadequate training and experience. All Refine surgeons are of course fully accredited by the GMC as fully trained plastic surgeons. However the new scheme is intended to offer the public extra re-assurance that surgeons had appropriate training, levels of experience and satisfactory outcomes. Dr Stewart found the process robust and arduous in terms of data collection. Nevertheless he is now fully certified by the college in all areas of cosmetic surgery.
